Job Summary - Project Manager/Senior PM

The Murton Group currently seeks a Project Manager/Senior Project Manager. This role, under general supervision, manages all aspects of a diverse IT project or multiple IT projects, typically involving multiple disciplines in the IT function. Utilizes expertise and leadership skills to direct staff and to resolve issues to ensure project goals and requirements are met. Typically is recognized as an expert in own area and has 4 to 6 years specialized in depth and/or breadth of expertise. Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends solutions/best practices. Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions. Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.
 

Essential Requirements

  • Proven ability to manage multiple large and complex technical and business oriented projects.

  • Establish client relationships, integrate requirement definition, plan projects, and direct resources ensuring corporate objectives are met.

  • Collaborate with corporate leadership to ensure project portfolios/programs follow company and strategic priorities.

  • Manages the project plans and schedules, ensuring successful completion within scope, budget, time, and quality parameters.

  • Develop, prepare and present project documentation, including project charter, project plans, status and other reporting documents in accordance with organization standards.

  • Integrate project plans from multiple sources to create a cohesive plan with identifiable critical path, task dependencies, and major milestones.

  • Develop business requirements into a project charter and scope document, and manage projects through the entire project life cycle ensuring systems meet design standards and guidelines and are sensitive to the performance needs of the organization.

  • Partner with project sponsors and project teams to lead the definition of and evaluate client’s technical and business requirements and develop approaches and solution alternatives with the project teams and stakeholders.

  • Influences decision making on projects, works with key stakeholders, sponsors and management to secure acceptance and approval of deliverables.

  • Mentor teams on best practices, process improvement and project management techniques.

  • Track and communicate with client, management and operating groups regarding project progress, status, risks, and issues. Lead resolution of issues and risks.

Qualifications

Proven to have direct responsibility for the successful implementation of large, complex technology and business oriented projects or programs that may be large sized, cross-functional, and/or involving several sub-projects with dependencies.
 

Preferred:

  • PMP or Agile Certification

  • Advanced Degree

  • Experience with JIRA, MS Project, Planview

 

Education/Experience:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Services, Business or related field or relevant experience. 5+ years of business and/or technology related project management experience. Demonstrated experience in managing programs or complex projects involving multiple projects and oversight of multiple project managers. Experience with development and reporting of project costs, and project financial analysis. Working Knowledge of various system development lifecycle methodologies including Waterfall and Agile. Adept at using documentation tools including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio and industry standard project management tools.

Job Summary - PMO Manager

The PMO Manager is an essential position within our management team reporting to the Vice President of Professional Services. Our ideal candidate is confident, organized, detail oriented, able to manage senior project managers and have previous experience setting up and running a PMO for an enterprise-class organization. In addition to managing the Project Managers, you will also ensure that all projects are being initiated and executed using best practices for project management. You will ensure proper methodologies and processes are leveraged and that at all times the status, risks and mitigations are in place for every engagement. Under your leadership, you will coach and develop a team of professional Project Managers who will ensure we are delivering with quality on each of our client engagements. Where required, you will engage directly with clients to ensure highest level of customer satisfaction is achieved.

  • Provide leadership and coaching to the Project Management team.

  • Grow and develop a high performing team of Project Managers.

  • Deploy best practices for project management disciplines across the team – methodologies, processes, and tools to ensure all projects are being managed proactively to deliver the value our clients expect within the scope, timing and budget requirements of the project.

  • Ensure the status and reporting of each project is understood and appropriate actions are in place to address any variances.

  • Responsible for policies and procedures where they relate to the delivery of Projects (project management methodology).

  • Business development

  • Collaborate with our clients on the development and improvement of Implementation Standards.

  • Collaborate with corporate on the Project Management Standards.

 

Qualifications

  • Previous experience launching and running a Project Management Office within an Enterprise class software organization.

  • PMP or Agile certified and/or significant experience as a Senior Project Manager in a technical environment.

  • 10+ years of experience managing complex software implementation projects

  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage vertically. Experience managing senior resources (remotely) is an asset.

  • Analytical, (accounting, budgeting and project administration background).

  • Ability to handle issues and communicate in a sensitive and tactful manner.

  • Highly organized with very good attention to detail.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Services, Business or related field or relevant experience. 10+ years of business and/or technology related project management experience.

  • Positive, self-starters who rise to the challenge and take personal responsibility for solutions and results – a can-do-attitude.

  • Delivering high value to customers by listening, understanding and reflecting back what is heard and providing solutions – customer empathy.

  • Respectfully collaborating in the best interest of the customer, our orgnization, team and self – humble.
